Description

Felix The Reaper is an engaging single-player puzzle game in which you take on the role of Felix, an assassin with one goal in mind: making sure people die. In order to ensure this outcome, Felix must work in secret by dismantling faith so as to guarantee death as the outcome of every situation he encounters.

At its heart, Reaper's game entails manipulating shadows so Felix can safely set his targets buried by them - something similar to Hitman Go's target-setting mechanics or Monument Valley or Sokoban-esque simplicity. There are three rules you need to master to become a Reaper - Rule #1 is "stick with shadows", Rule #2 involves keeping to one shadow at all costs and Rule #3 involves keeping within your shadow-bound space if possible.
Felix must follow three rules when playing each level: #2 (Control Shadows); rotate Sun; Move objects in order to open new pathways towards his target; #3 (Make Sure People Die);
Every level has one ultimate aim - setting targets and reaching them before time runs out.
As part of our effort to enhance this core gaming experience, we added layers of storytelling, death, dance, art history, love and comedy into this core experience. So you get to enjoy both an engaging story world while challenging your brain with straight forward shadow puzzles about Death!

Engaging single player puzzle game. Assume the role of The Reaper to ensure people die. However, stay within the shadows - light is life-giving but harmful to others! Utilise shadow control in order to reach your objective!
Enjoy an immersive narrative about romantic love and uncanny characters with Felix dancing along to an original soundtrack curated from 10+ indie music artists.
Unlock time trials and hardcore levels to give yourself an extra challenge with Felix The Reaper! Heavily inspired by Death's expansive, humorous, and morbid art history - particularly its cultural legacy - we created Felix The Reaper by merging those themes - such as Danse Macabre or Dance Of Death or Danse Macabre- and Death and The Maiden into Felix the Reaper!
As far as inspiration was concerned for both our character and environment, this varied: We took cues from classic television show The Twilight Zone; medieval painters like Bruegel and Bosch; as well as from Adventure Time characters created by Hayao Miyazaki himself.
Felix The Reaper found its greatest source of strength from its incredible artistic collaborators - dancers, musicians and history scholars were all essential members of our production team.

At various points during its creation, various dancers contributed their talent towards producing The Dance game; ultimately Gunilla Lind and Raphael Ferdinand Eder-Kastling provided most of its choreography based on improvisational moves they came up with during gameplay. Here's Gunilla showing a dance move to Felix: And here is Raphael doing another:

Music Its Naturally, any game with a dancing protagonist requires great music! So we designed our game so the musicians could express themselves, rather than forcing them into conforming to an ideal image we wanted them to project. This resulted in an eclectic and bizarre array of tunes--but since our puzzler gameplay allows enough breathing room that players have time to appreciate these surprises while they play!

Art History Our game draws its inspiration from art history. Starting with The Danse Macabre and Death and The Maiden as our starting points, we asked ourselves how can we use these themes as the foundation for creating a game around these subjects - eventually and through various prototyping attempts, we arrived here.
