SHOGUN: Total War It is 1542 in Japan and civil unrest reigns supreme. Following the fall of its final shogunate, various factions led by feudal warlords (daimyos) now rule their respective parts.
Each daimyo seeks to scheme, murder and wage war in an effort to become supreme ruler; while Kyoto remains powerless as each faction seeks control. Enter European explorers carrying guns, religion and diseases: these unique travelers add even further complexity and chaos into this already volatile mix of Japanese society.
Out of this chaos will emerge only one Daimyo; someone with masterful control of all the skills essential to war: politics, economics, subterfuge, strategic warfare and battlefield tactics.

As either Mongol invaders or members of Japan's Hojo clan, it is your task to either conquer islands for Khan, or defend Japan against threats threatening her homeland.
