Twenty years have passed since world leaders signed an unconditional surrender treaty with alien forces and left their final line of defense, XCOM, decimated. Now in XCOM 2, alien forces dominate Earth; building cities that seem promising while concealing an ulterior agenda while silencing those who oppose their new order.
Only those living on the edges of society possess any degree of freedom; here, XCOM forces gather once again in an attempt to defend humanity against an alien threat and unite resistance forces around the globe against it. Always on the run from enemies intent on taking over our world, their remnants must find ways to ignite global resistance movements against an unconquerable foe and eliminate him entirely.
XCOM ON THE RUN: Take command of an alien supply craft transformed into the mobile headquarters for XCOM and command its strike team with ease! New open-ended gameplay lets you decide where and when your strike team should attack targets while growing popular support or combatting any possible enemy counteroperations.
Recrute Resistance FIGHTERS: With five soldier classes to choose from - each featuring its own skill tree - recruiting resistance fighters becomes easy and affordable. Create specific soldiers tailored specifically to your tactical plan!
TACTICAL GUERRILLA BATTLE: New gameplay systems offer greater tactical flexibility during combat. Make use of concealment to ambush enemy patrols; loot enemies for precious gear or artifacts; rescue VIPs or fallen allies by transporting them safely back to extraction points; or carry VIPs or fallen colleagues safely back home by transporting them on your back to their extraction points.
An Entangled Enemy: Combat against alien species as well as ADVENT enforcers who enforce an alien regime is no easy feat - each enemy species presents unique tactical challenges for you to contend with.
Research, Develop & Upgrade: Configure rooms on the Avenger to enhance XCOM's battlefield abilities, then utilize Scientists & Engineers for research, development and upgrade of weapons & armor to suit your preferred tactics.
