Description

Cities: Skylines II is the PC sequel of the original game by the same title. A plot of land is given to the player, on which he or she must build a new city. The player can create roads, zoning and utilities to draw in residents and business. City policies such as taxes and decrees can be used to determine how the city develops. The tax money is then spent on infrastructure, expansion and better services.

The Game

You are initially limited to only nine building tiles. However, you can buy additional tiles with city funds. This includes the tax mentioned above. The previous version of the game had a maximum limit set at nine tiles (it was 25 tiles in the console remastered edition). This game lets you go as high as 441 tiles.
The new Cities Skylines 2 map is 159km2, which is about the size of the country Liechtenstein in Europe. Even though you start with nine tiles, the buildings can now be higher.

The population control, which was previously around 65,000 residents, has been removed. This makes it even more crucial to create trade routes in order to keep your citizens happy. Every map has its own climate, which influences how weather patterns are formed. Weather and population cycles are set according to day-night, and annually. This means that the productivity of the people will change with time.
Summer brings extreme weather like flooding, tornadoes, and grey skies. Winter is cold and brings snow, ice and gray skies. To cope with the annual disasters, you must create emergency response services and facilities within your city.
The services are now available alongside the regular police and fire departments. These services can be assigned to specific areas for faster response.
In addition, you will be able to set up services such as education, safety boards, and sanitation. In this game you'll also have to worry about your population and communication systems, and mortuary service.

This game allows you to import and export goods from other cities. The technology tree is used to manage this. Note that the weather will affect your public transportation network in game, as well as your import/export network.

The Nitty Gritty

This game is now much better and more advanced than the previous version. It has added more transport systems and economics, improved construction techniques, and allows more customization. Below are some details on the changes.

What is New and Improved?

Here are some new features that have been added to the game. See how many you can unlock.

  • The zoning in your city can be more precisely controlled. You are able to create residential, industrial, or commercial zones. Or even niche areas such as residential mixed-use.
  • By achieving certain milestones, you can unlock signature buildings and place them within specific zones. This will improve your area's desirability and quality of life for the local population.
  • In the first game, routes were plotted based solely on distance. This has now been changed to include traffic, tolls, comfort, and personal preferences. A complex AI system will make it more realistic for citizens to navigate through your city.
  • You can also expect random weather phenomena such as tornados, fires and hailstorms.
  • The new road use will see all vehicles using all lanes. This prevents unnecessary traffic, but also introduces a level of risk when driving on the roads. Like in real life, citizens and delivery trucks will be more cautious, while emergency vehicles may speed up or make dangerous U-turns.
  • This time you can play the game as a simulation of a person, and follow your citizens from birth to death. You are free to be as nosy as possible. If you play the game thoroughly, you'll be awarded with a Little Stalker award.
  • Homelessness is a new problem that can affect your population. You must make sure that the income of your population is higher than their expenses to prevent them from ending up in city parks.
  • Instant Gaming offers Cities: Skylines II PC at a fractional price of the retail cost. The game will be available to you in seconds. Smart play. Pay less.
